Dentist Case Study
SEO Case Study for a Local Dental Clinic
In March of 2020, in the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic, a dental practice in Phoenix, AZ came to us in desperate need of new patients. Because of the shutdown, people were afraid to come into the clinic for even emergency services! After a detailed review of their website and online presence, what started out as more of a PR project quickly unveiled the true underlying problem. In review of the analytics, we discovered that the practice had really been losing patients over the last 12 months. This wasn’t necessarily a COVID-19 issue, this was a byproduct of them neglecting their online presence. After an exhaustive review of their on-site, off-site, online presence, and content marketing strategy, we worked with the client to identify a number of opportunities and solutions to get the practice back on track.
No updates to the website in the last 12 months
No COVID-19 statement or information on their website
No content marketing strategy
Missing or incomplete online listings
No reviews in the last 6 months
With the clients help, we made a number of improvements to the site including implementing an online appointment scheduling feature, a COVID-19 statement reassuring patients that it is safe to come into the practice, we cleaned up their local listings correcting the website address and hours of operation, we added a review widget to their website to encourage new reviews on Google and Yelp, and we implemented a detailed content optimization strategy that included new inner-pages on the website and weekly blogs from the doctor on proper oral hygiene. We also developed an email marketing campaign that included this new content, updates on their COVID-19 policy, and a call to action to schedule their routine exams and cleanings.
After just 30 days, we saw almost a complete 180 degree turn around in the business. We added 4 keywords back to the first page of Google, restored their listing on the local maps block, and April’s patient count increased by 4 new patients. By July of 2020, the strategy was in full effect with 28 keywords ranking on the 1st page of Google. The site traffic was up 66.86% and the client was now seeing an average of 7 – 10 new patients per month.
