In early 2020, a landscaping contractor in the Phoenix, AZ area reached out to us about expanding their presence into new area markets. Their perception was that they were doing well in their existing area and wanted to expand with 2 – 3 new crews by the end of the year to service this new market. The overall goal was to increase their organic rankings and by virtue they would bring on the additional client base to support the expansion.

After sitting down with the client over a series of meetings, we were able to dive into the analytics and really see where the client’s leads were coming from currently, their current rankings online, and how their website was functioning. Come to find out, they weren’t in as good of a position as they once thought. Truth be told, the majority of their business was coming from referrals because they offer an affordable rate and do a great job. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a system in place to understand where their leads were actually coming from and they were throwing hundreds of dollars away each month on advertising that just wasn’t bringing in any new business. After our in-depth audit of their on-site, off-site, and online presence, we found that the site was really underperforming and in desperate need of a reboot.

Our Solution:

After an exhaustive review, we refreshed the website with new content that truly highlighted their services and success stories. We implemented a series of on-site and off-site optimizations to help build trust and authority with the major search engines. We identified and refined new targeted keywords through our detailed keyword research process, and we optimized the clients Google My Business, Bing Local, and Yelp pages to include their correct service areas. We also implemented a new email marketing campaign and referral tracking system where clients could self-serve and email referrals for a chance to win a gift card.

Results

In just 90 days, we were able to take the client from 15 keywords on the 1st page of Google to over 25, increasing traffic to the site by 81.7%. The overall site visits in a 1-month period increased 524% to 322 legitimate visitors, viewing over 900 pages on the site (average of 3 pages per visit). Per the client, they averaged 5 – 10 new clients per month and after 90 days, they saw that number increase to an average of 15 – 20 new clients a month!
